My computer won't shut down......
Alright fellas, here's another problem I'm facing now that I've upgraded to Windows 2K Pro.....my PC needs to be unplugged in the back (literally) as to turn it off after the shutdown screen appears. I had no problems with Windows 98 SE but after installing Windows 2K it won't even turn off by pushing the button in front. I've been doing some online research and it all seems confusing to me. Can anyone guide me through this ?
I've already went into the "Hardware" tab in System Properties and double clicked "My Computer". Someone told me that there should be something called "ACPI" in order to fix this. I didn't see that option...does this require me going into my BIOS? Should I even be attempting this or can it cause problems ? Any suggestions ? |

Okay go into your control panel, look for power options. There should be a tab called "advanced", and then a drop down menu that says "When I press the power button on my computer:" and then you have a list of options.
Obviously if its set to nothing then that would explain your problem.

There's no such option under "Advanced". What do I do now ? I heard there's a way to change your settings in the BIOS. Can anyone explain to me how to do this ?
