Ethernet Card ID Gone
I was forced to reload Windows2000 Pro. I did so and I am at Service Pack 3. However, for some reason my network card (NIC) can no longer be accesses; it is built into the mother board. I beleive it to be a RealTek3189, but can not prove it. I have tried several times to reload a driver to it, but I can not seem to find a good driver, or find where in the W2000 system a generic drive may be located.
There are other problems, but I must first get to the internet with the PC to begin digging myself out. Without the NIC I can not even get the PC to coexist with my MS Network. Gandulf |

Network Issues
The PC is about 3 years old, and I inherited it from our Sister dealership. So I have no documentation; PC is a MSI brand. MSI built CPU systems with whatever they could get the best price on. I have several other similar CPUs, and they all have RealTek3189 Ethernet Cards. I have downloaded the dirvers, but since the card can not be recognized by the Operating system the driver installation fails. I need to get a copy of the Generic Microsoft Drivers and somehow fool the system into recognizing the card.
Guess the real answer is I am up the creek without original software. Gandulf |
