USB woes for software moved from Win98 to 2K
Well I didn't know where to stick this question-- in hardware or software.
I have a Yamaha receiver, the RP U100 which has a USB connection and software to the computer so the controls and EQ, reciever tuning-- all that stuff is done from onscreen controls. I noticed that someof these functions didn't work right when I installed the programs to Win2K. The control for left and right channels didn't work properly, no EQ. Is there anything that can be done to retrofit the USB from Win 98 to Win2k. Something like software control for USB 1.1 instead of 2.0? |

was well in the pipe and should have no comaptibility issues. The device works for _some things_: control of receiver, on/off, volume. What does not work and is critical for me is channel left and right. This may have to do with the AC'97 on board sound rather than a sound card. The unit ran fine with Windows 98 in the AC'97 and it also ran with Win98 on a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. I've seen the settings and control panel for the AC'97 but don't know how to tweak that to get my channel separation. ** Also noted: The selected device on USB will 'play through' the other aux inputs until turned off. So if per change I have 2 devices on such as streaming audio and switch to another aux, that stream will continue to be heard and overlap. The USB has it's own selection for USB/analog/digital input. But on the current setup it does not appear to be distinguishing these at all. I know this is real weird and the device is complex. It's hard to describe the problems and the features of the unit. I love the device. I wish there were more of it's kind. |
