copy a complete program

I have two Lap tops, and I would like to copy/ transfer a complete program from one the other. a simple copy and paste doesnt work . Is their away to do this with out installing from the original cd's as I don't have the install program anymore and I would like to get the program on my newer computor. I have windows 2000 OS on both.

You cannot simple copy and paste a program from one computer to another because when a program installs itself, it writes to the system files and registry. What program are you trying to copy?

What you can do is email yourself a copy of the program's installer, and receive the email on the computer that you want the program on, then simply install it.
