Start Options for Windows2000

My grandson did something and now we cannot start Windows.
The message we get is:

Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt.
\winnt\system32\config\systemcedstartupoptionsfor windows2000 ,pressF8

You can attemp to repair this file by starting windows 2000 setup using the original set up floppy disk or cd-rom. Select "r" at the first screen to start repair.

We cannot locate start up disk and have tried others that came with the computer but none will start.

Can you help?

for future reference, copy your I386 file to the root of c: next time you get a chance. Therefore, you'll have all the necessary files to copy to the windows folder, in case the files go missing.
