Administrator issues on refurbished unit

I purchased a refurbished Dell Latitude C600 laptop with Windows 2000 Professional installed on it. The only way I can boot into Windows is thru the name "Administrator"...won't let me change it to my own name, etc. Also, when I try to load or save something to the d: drive, it says "You do not have access to the folder 'D:\' See your administrator for access to this folder". How do I correct these problems, or can't I? I'm not very computer oriented, and get confused and flustrated pretty easy.....any help for this or should I take it somewhere to get it "fixed"?
