Confused Boot-up problem, only boots after repair process every time

I have a PC with Win2000Pro that will boot up if I go through the repair process through the installation CD. It had kept getting stuck at a message that read "Press F11 to begin recovery" and yet it would do mothing when we pressed F11. So I used the installation disk and ran the repair program with chkdsk and it repaired things and finished up saying that all things had been repaired. When I exited from here the computer booted fine. After I shut it down though it continues to get stuck in the same spot in the boot-up process unless I run the repair program at which time it will boot-up. I did find from a Gateway site(this is a gateway), a download for getting rid of the "F11 display" and so I downloaded it. Now the message does not display but the computer still gets stuck right after the splash screen in the same spot with just a small blinking line. It has to be some setting somewhere that I have changed wrong but I am at a loss what it is. Thanks for any help, Kathleen72

That is the repair process it goes through to boot up. Why won't it stayed fixed?

The chkdsk /r from the installation disk "is" the repair process it does go through before it will boot to windows, and this is the only way it will complete the boot to windows by again going through the repair process and yet the next time it boots up it still stops at the same point in the boot process until I put in the installation disk and do chkdsk /r after which it will boot to windows. How can I fix this part of the boot process? Fixboot has already fixed the boot sector. Kathleen72
