close cd-rom drawer automatically
Hi,
is there an easy way in windows 2000 to automatically close all cd-rom / dvd-drive drawers before windows shuts down. It's almost chronically that I forget to close them. I got a program which closes the drawers but now I need it to be run when Windows shuts down. Would be nice if somebody could help. Russel |

Why not invoke the drawer close application in a shutdown script?

Make sure you're logged on as an administrator.
Create a text file with the name CLOSECD.CMD and put a fully qualified command to invoke your utility to close the CD's. When you double click on this CMD file, it should invoke the program. Start, RUN, type gpedit.msc Under Local Computer Policy, Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Scripts. Double click the shutdown scripts icon and click the show files button at the bottom. Drag the created CMD file into the open window, which will probably be empty at this point. Close the window. Click the Add button and browse to C:\WINNT\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine\Scripts\Shutdown and select your new command file. Click OK to the prompts, and the command has been added to the shutdown policy.
