CD-ROM dissapears in NT4
Hi,
Long time since I had to install s/w on an NT4 machine. Problem is the CD player does not appear in My Computer. I go into disk administrator and it does not have a letter assigned. I give it one and it appears in My Computer but is unusable. I reboot and it is gone again. Help please! Hooligan |

Troubleshooting CD-ROM Problems in Windows 2000 and Windows NT
Err Msg: Accessing CD-ROM Drive: D:\ Is Not Accessible Is it one of these problems? Whether it is or not make sure you have all the latest windows updates and the latest service pack. Hope that helps, GICodeWarrior |

Thanks for your help. I had already seen the sites you suggested. It did have service pack 3. I put the HDD in another PC and put SP6a on the drive. When I returned the drive to the PC it crashed. Luckily I had ghosted to another HDD first. I put the other drive in and it crashed to!?!? One of those days. By chance I found someone had ghosted the HDD to CD 1 week ago. I reimaged from that and it was back to how I started except the CD player worked perfectly. Maybe I should have just stayed home and watched TV.
