Need Help/Windows 2000 Professional

I have a gateway computer with Windows 2000 Professional. I keep getting this error: WinMgmt.exe has generated errors and will be closed. Restart your computer. The problem is this error message keeps coming up and now it is interfereing with my AOL free trial. Do I need to reinstall windows or what? If I do not click okay this error is causing my comp to freeze up. Any one please help with advice. Thanks!

Well, this is not an error I have ever encountered so I needed to google search for it. I read this forum thread:

And it has lots of solutions that have seemed to work from some people. Read the whole thread before trying any of the solutions.

The first thing I would try is running the system file checker.
