What are you trying to do here? Are you trying to install Windows 98 or Windows XP? If you are trying to install XP, boot from the XP CD and let it load. Then choose to do a clean install. Format the old (win2000) partition and then install XP on it.

Wink

Are you booting up with the bootdisk and getting a "A:" prompt?

If so what command and syntax are you using?

Been a long time since I messed with Fdisk, but if memory serves you should be entering "Fdisk" without the quotes at the prompt.

It would be a good idea to write zeros to the drive before installing another OS.

What make is the hard drive?

When you get to DOS Prompt, make sure the C: drive is active and try

format c:

Every time I've formatted before reinstalling windows I've done it that way with no problams at all
