Self-restart during installation Win 2k
I have a problem. After I change my an older hard disk to newer hard disk, and do a fresh install of win 2k, it get self restart during one stage where the system check network component.
To confirm this is due to that new hard disk problem, I put back the old hard disk to install and it works. The older hard disk works, installing win 2k until the end. Concurrently, I put this new hard disk to another pc to test. And also self restart suddenly. So, that make me confirm that the problem is this new hard disk. So, I went to return this hard disk back to the vendor and the vendor gave me another new one (still unopen). After I put this new one to install, the same problem occur. I tried twice. Also self restart during check network component stage. Anyone can help me in this situation? Thanks. The pc spec is IMB. Model 2197-45Q. Pentium III. The new hard disk is 80GB (7200RPM; 2MB). From, Steve |

I did during installation. Anyway, after I post my first post, I still keep trying (reinstall). I tried to take out one piece of ram and tried and to my suprise, it doesn't self-restart. I tried it another time. It works again. I think my conclusion is that ram is not compatible with new harddisk. I tried to put back the ram and try again to confirm this.
Thanks anyway. |

That sounds kind of wild. But I had the exact same problem on my wifes
computer running 2000. In the end it wasnt the ram being bad, or compat ibility problems it was the mobo. But glad your problem is fixed for the time being...
