Angry Win2k Proffessional Stop error

Ok Here the problem:
Whenever I start my computer, it goes all the way to the windows color screen and then it gives a stop error:
**STOP: 0x0000007B (0x817FS4S0, 0xC0000032, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Inaccessable_Boot_Device

I cant even get into the it, so that i can do checkdisk, scandisk etc. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Also, Im trying to boot from my Win2k setup disk, but I cant figure out how to boot from disk :(

Configure your BIOS to boot from the CD before the hard disk, insert the 2K CD, and hit go! :D

That's all that's normally necessary to boot the Windows 2K CD.

Well, I configured my BIOS to boot from the cd, but it just says it is booting from cd and I think it just freezes. I left it on as "BOoting from cd" for a few hours, yet it was still on the same stage and nothing had happened :(

Try clearing the CMOS according to your manual. Then during the bootup go into the bios and choose the default option save and exit, during the reboot check and see if the drives are recognized in the bios.

Most motherboards have CMOS jumpers that you pull off or swap the neighboring pins with in order to clear CMOS. If it was an electrical surge that caused it, then it may have killed power to the hard drive. I am talking about the lead not the actual power supply.

You will need to correct this problem should you decide to upgrade. Upgrading usually gives you an option to keep the current partition or reformat. Good Luck!!

We have had this error at work a lot lately thanks to aging hard drives crashing. You may want to see if your hard drive manufacturer has a hard drive testing program.

You can also try http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm but this program works best on Hitachi or IBM drives.

Considering this error usually only comes up at work if a drive is failing it may be a good idea for you to try it even though you are operational now.
