2000 does not recognize my modem

I recently upgraded a 98 computer to Windows 2000, windows 2000 did not recognize the driver I installed for the intel ambient Ham modem. the system is a pentium 2 at 400 mhz, 256 mb of sdram, 32 cdrom, floppy,8 gb hardrive, soundcard, and rage IIc video card.

You may have to upgrade the driver to one that will work with W2K.

Take a look here.

Click on members

User ID = drivers

Password = all

Boy, do I feel stupid

Someone had already tried to install the modem and ..... yeah, I didn't think to do anthing but the install hardware wizard. Now, to top off the scenario, some little kids got hold of the computer and changed the password for the login. and the guy who typed in the password for administarator, has forgotten the administrator password! And there's quite a bit of data on there, which hasn't been backed up. so i can't just reinstall. Isn't life wonderful?

when you sort that password out another way with the modem if its plug and play is open you case up take the modem out and put it back in again you shoul be presented with the the found new hardware screen when you reboot

why little kids mess with my comuters

they mess with it because that particular one was located in a corner in the dining room and there was some game on it they liked to play.
