Unable to install win2k or Xp
I have a pIII 733 pc currently running win98 2nd editon...trying to install win2k or xp. With XP it goes through all the steps and at the end it says internal setup error...see your system adminstrator. I have changed the hard drive, cdrom and still have same trouble. Als changed IDE cable and same problem. Tried installing win2k and have problems as well. The only system i can install successfully is win98. Any suggestions what it could be. I also upgraded the bios on the asus motherboard and still that didnot help. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I think i have done everything besides changing the mother board. the machine was bought in sep 2000.

Try downloading www.memtest86.com and running it overnight. 2K/XP tends to turn up memory errors that W98 doesn't notice. :) It's also possible that your MB simply isn't compatible with 2K/XP, many older ones aren't.
