Minor meltdown
It's either the ME or the Vaio or the terrible combination of both.
I've been having several problems- if it's more appropriate to post different threads, let me know! 1. Scandisk won't actually complete after a bad shutdown...it just keeps running and running. 2. Realplayer just killed a fun night by giving me errors with INDIVBOX.KEY and the dreaded kernel32.dll. How to fix? 3. The unknown error that won't let windows shut down. The box pops up at shutdown that they're waiting for an unknown program to shut down and I can either wait, end task, or cancel. I usually end task. This stops the shut down process, and I have to do it all again. The task manager is no help- how do I find this mystery program that won't shut down? Thanks!!!! |

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Lets disable this feature untill we find the issue. To disable Scandisk from running automatically after a bad shutdown, use one of the following procedures. On the toolbar click Start, click Run, type Msconfig, and then click OK. Click Advanced, and select the Disable Scandisk after bad shutdown option. Click OK twice, and then click Yes to restart your computer. NOTE: For Windows Me, this procedure adds a Binary value named DisableScandiskOnBoot to the following registry key and sets its value to 01: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem Quote:
At shut down when you get the box that pops up saying its waiting for a program to close can you click Ctrl/Alt/Del to see the offending program?
