Transfer of files from old hard disk
Can any one advise me in relatively simple language how to do the following if possible:tongue2:
I have an old hard disk (5 Gig) that was from my previous pc . That was operating on windows 95. The rest of the machine is defunct. I intend purchasing a new pc operating using win XP home edition. Is there a simple way of transferring various word/excel /jpg files from the old hard drive and transferring them on to the new machine when I get it ? Thanks in advance |

You can connect the old hard drive temporarily into the new machine and do a direct transfer. If you're not comfortable with opening the machine, you might consider shopping for a cheap USB 2.0 external disk case, and installing the drive into that. XP will automatically recognize USB mass storage, and you can then treat it as a normal disk drive and copy the files from it.
