OS: Windows Me
|
Hi, I hope someone can help me figure out what to do next ...
I have a Dell Inspiron running Windows Me. I am not sure what exactly happened .. maybe a bad virus (or else my hard drive is gone). When I boot from the hard drive, I get "error loading operating system." I tried booting from a floppy, without CD-ROM support, and ran fdisk /mbr, but the machine STILL will not boot from the hard drive. I can change from A: to C:, but C: appears to be a virtual representation of A:. The machine does not know it has a hard drive. I have read several threads that indicate booting with CD-ROM support and re-loading the OS, but .. this machine has a modular floppy and modular CD, the floppy drive must be removed in order to install the CD-RW drive. Can someone give advice? Thanks! |
