no sound!

I have no sound coming from my comp. The speakers are plugged in, its not a pci sound card so it is on-board and i have an Intel 82443BX-2. I don't no how to activate the sound, please help.

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Open the Device Manager and see if there is a yellow ? beside the sound,video and game controllers. Do you have your speaker icon in the taskbar? Have you tried different speakers? Have you added any new hardware / software right before the loss of your sounds?

Did the mother board come with a CD and an instruction manual? That's what one normally needs to activate the sound.
