Hi , My name is joeyG
This is my first time on this forum and it looks like a great place to get some help. I have a Dell computer ( Dimension 4100 ) Factory installed Windows ME and my system is very unstable. Sometimes it will just restart while i'm in the middle of something ,other times I just can't get on line without restarting two or more times.I have dial up and my IP is MSN 9.I have a whole list of error messages that pop up on a daily basis. Dells Techs suggest I just reinstall the OS , but I'd rather fix it. Here's my error messages Maybe they will be a clue as to whats going on . The MSNAPPAV. exe file is linked to missing export ADVAPI.32DLL:convert string security descriptor to security descriptor W. MSN has caused an error in KENEL32.DLL. The IPHLPAPI.DLL file cannot start BIG BLUE SCREEN ERROR OE 0197 :BFF8E64B Error occured in program TAPISRV TAPISRV has caused an error in GDI exe Windows kb891711 component has altered system files version 4.10.2223 adobe type manager has altered system files ATMSYS.drv VERSION 4.0 msgsrv32 has caused an error in GDI.exe msgsrv has caused an error in MSNIAWA.dll OLEAVT 32 DLL has caused an error in MSN Does this make any sense to anyone ?

Hello and Welcome to TSF
Wow your system is cooked I would follow the technicans suggestions and wipe the drive and reinstall. Sorry, Windows ME was not the best O.S. to begin with. A repair install almost never works.Do you clean the system weekly for viruses and spyware? How long has it been since there was a fresh install on the machine? Look over this link, use some of the programs to clean you system up. I dont feel you need to post a HJT log so ingnore that section until further told to. First Steps at Removing the Malware and Posting your HJT Log Also click Start / Run and type in msconfig Click the Startup tab and take the check mark beside Windows kb891711. Click Apply and close the System Configuration Utility / Reboot This should take care of at least 1 error message
