USB Printer windows Locks

I'm working on a computer that is running windows 98. The owner recently bought a USB printer (Lexmark). It installed fine, and prints fine, only problem is that when you try to shut down the computer after printing, it hangs up. It doesn't hang up if you don't print during the session. Tried reinstalling the drivers, etc, didn't help. This is the first USB printer used on that computer.

What model Lexmark printer is it and have you tried downloading the latest printer drivers from the Lexmark web site? Since I don't know what the model number is there is not much more I can suggest. Hope this helps.

I'm guessing by your response that the printer you have is the Z53 Color Jetprinter. If that is the case I would try downloading and installing the latest drivers for that printer. Although you may already have that set of drivers installed, as the release date is October 4, 2001. If you do decide to install this set of drivers remember to uninstall the old drivers first. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I'm sure my drivers are current if 2001 is the most recent release. The owner is perfectly happy with the simple solution: Shut the Printer off before using the windows shut-down function. Thanks for your replies.
