Cannot start computer
I have Windows ME. Computer is 5 years old. I recently switched to Comcast (cable service). That and downloading McAfee from their site are the only new things I have done to the computer.
Now whenever I try to start computer, I just get a black screen with two error messages. I forgot the paper at home that I wrote them on but they are something like this: ifshlp.dll is missing or corrupted c:\windows\vmm.vxd32 is missing or corrupted It asks me to type in the register but I have no clue what they are talking about. Can anyone please help? Or should I just get a new computer? I really wanted to at least get this running to get my pics off of it or give it to the kids. Thank you. |

thanx but
Thank you so much for responding. I am still a little confused tho. It sounds stupid, but on the first line of the Microsoft directions it says:
Modify the WinBootDir entry in the Msdos.sys file to point to the correct location of the Windows folder. Does that mean that if it comes up d: or something, that I should change it to C:? I would really like to fix this system, but on the other hand, do you think it is time for a new one? I was looking at the Dell E510. Also, Athlon or Pentium processor? Thank you soooo mcuh!!!! |
