Vsmon caused a page default in Kernel32.dll

After a number of weeks of having a 2 station network setup, I got one of
these dll errors. I know they are not new but what is the cure for them?

vsmon.exe is a processs associated with the ZoneAlarm personal firewall

At what point do you get this error, is it random?

It pops up on a machine that isn't running Zonealarm and
doesn't have it installed.

I can click through the error and the program running
continues. I know you don't discuss p2p issues so I'll leave it at that.

At the same time I've been having some issues with sending mail out. The error looks like it can't find port 25 for send mail on the ISP server.

Your correct we dont discuss P2P networking issues in here and if you have this type of software installed theres no use wasting our time trying to fix your issue as it may be related to this software in one way or another.

Please follow the steps in this thread so we can iliminate spyware/malware issues. You dont need to post a HJT log if you dont want to but please clean out the system.

Erm, I don't have or know anything about Hijackthis.

But I am running a backup disk and haven't encountered the error. So I'm going to backup this disk onto the
original problem item.

This might just be a stopgap measure, but it has freed up my machine to send mail.

I understand perfectly about the p2p issues.

And thanks for the link to the analysis page. I'm going to
go through that and print it out.

On my hard to read monitor I did see that ZoneAlarm was
sponsoring this error and it's croppin gup again.

I got some hints on how to clean Nero on the other
multimedia forum.

They were talking about editing the registry to remove
all Ahead references so i could start over.

What would be the method of cleaning ZoneLabs? I checked everywhere for it. Going to look at Startup
just in case.

Zone Alarm provides the firewall for many different internet security suites; often those provided free by ISPs or free copies of EZ Armor etc are at fault for this error. In this case , they rarely show as Zone Alarm; but vsmon.exe is Zone Labs true vector monitor http://www.auditmypc.com/process/vsmon.asp

Hijackthis is an ennumerator; a program which will generate a log file which shows the contents of certain specific parts of the registry and system files which will allow a trained ananlyst to determine if you have a malware infestation , what it is and how to fix the problem.
As noted, P2P and theft of copywrite protected material is a major source of these infestations and if you choose not to remove these and stick to legitimate sources there is little we can do for you.
If however you are interested in actually solving the problem
First Steps at Removing Malware and Posting a HiJackThis Log
Post a log on the hijackthis log analysis board.
