Windows boot problem

Im not sure if this is the right section

I have a very old emachine and it is used as a work machine. When i turned it on today, it said "Resource conflict, wait". it said something like that and it kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting. This happens before it boots into windows. any ideas?

Can you boot into Safe Mode? (tapping F8 at boot)
Please post the complete error message if possible

Not sure what your referring to. If its about the power cable yes you can use any power cable they are pretty much standard

Did you try booting into Safe Mode? Your hard drive may be making the noise, do you know the make / model of the drive? We can try to run a diagnostic utility on it to check the integrity.

Find out what your hard drive manufacturer is and run their diagnostic utility. You will want to make a floppy disc and boot to it.

that won't be possible because it "sounds like" all the computer does is startup and it keeps restarting itself. nothing shows up on the screen and after manually shutting the computer off, it started up by itself.
