Automatic Reboots
Hello, I have a PC with Windows 98 installed that starts to reboot without notice. I do not get any error message and it reboots. No error message after reboot either.
What can be the problem?. I did not reinstall Windows because I do not get the blue windows with errors. Is it a soft or hardware problem?. Thanks |

When it reboots does it go into scan disk? You know windows was shut
down improperly checking drive for errors. Or does it boot normally. How often does it happen. Have you made any hardware changes recently. My first thought is a bad power supply. Or something grounding out the board. Bad hardware of some sort. Hard to say. |

XP has the option to "restart on system failure" not win98. Win98 locks up and gives you a bsod. Anything else: almost certain to be a power or heat issue. My first step would be to try a known good power supply and see if that solves it. Cheap power supplies tend to get unstable and cause mysterious reboots; even good powersupplies do not last forever.
