Removing Norton
I want to add new anti-virus software, but my system will not except it until I remove the old norton av program. I've tried uninstalling it from all programs and files, sending it to recycle bin then deleting it, and nothing will remove it.The message that keeps poping up says unable to find file log C:nortonantivirus/nav.95 uninstalling will discontinue.

Almost all of the processes that don’t belong to Windows or to open applications are called from within the registry. You can access most of the running processes by opening the Registry Editor, using the REGEDIT command, and navigating to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurentVersion\Run Go to RUN and type in regedit and click OK Find the leftover entry and delete it. It would be a good idea to backup your registry first. Last edited by tummypony86; 12-09-2005 at 01:55 PM. |

Hello and Welcome to TSF
I don't advise you to go into the Registry. One mistake can leave your system inaccessable. Definately try the Removal Tool as suggested by Resolution if you are using Norton AntiVirus 2003 or earlier. If you are using using any of these versions, * Norton AntiVirus 2004/2005 * Norton AntiVirus Professional 2004 * Norton AntiVirus 3, 5 and 10 User Pack 2004/2005 * Norton SystemWorks 2004/2004 Professional Edition * Norton SystemWorks 2005/2005 Premier edition * Norton Password Manager 2004 * Norton Internet Security 2004/2005 * Norton Internet Security 5 and 10 User Pack 2004/2005 * Norton Personal Firewall 2004/2005 * Norton AntiSpam 2004/2005 * Ghost 2003 or Ghost Version 9.0 please read these Instructions SYMANTEC REMOVAL TOOL, SymNRT.exe
