Windows Precopy not found
I have a new motherboard and have retrieved my previous hard drive with all my stuff on it to install.
The drive installed ok and everything is recotnized except my dsl modem through the ethernet connection on the board. I have done the preparation for dsl with the guide from my ISP. When I'm done with that a request is made for the Windows system disk. I put that in and it defaults to c:\wondows\system\precopy and cannot locate the file called "protman.dos". So i used find to locate it but still no luck. Then I inspected for precoppy subdirectory on both the c drive and the 98se install disk and could still not find it. What is up with that? I'm currently using an older drive that I set up "blind" by just running everything on the motherboard install cd with some other components but no dsk hooked up. The driver stuff from the motherboard disk is called the Rhine familiy something. Are there updates needed for that that Windows 98se can find and install? Why all the headache around this 'precopy' missing file now? |
