You'll need a Win98 boot floppy, as well as the drivers for all the hardware (motherboard, video, modem, network, etc.).
Gateway's site should have them, but you'll need the model number of the pc. Unless you have the original CD's that came with the system. |

1. Copied CD may not be bootable depending on how exactly it was copied.. Make sure you have used magical jellybean keyfinder to find your product key so you will have it when needed. http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml Note that windows itself does not contain all the drivers you will need to use your hardware. It may contain some generic drivers (the ones used in safe mode) but they will not be acceptable. So before you proceed go to device manager (rt click my computer/ properties/ device manager) write down what is there and go online to find the drivers and download and burn them to cdr. I suggest also using everest home http://www.snapfiles.com/get/everest.html to double check your hardware. 2. It would be easiest and most legitimate to use the gateway recovery cd and restore to factory settings with it. 3. The boot order is there in bios setup somewhere How to configure your bios
