Question winME shutdown problem

Hello, I have a problem with windows ME shutting down. My problem started when i downloaded the trial version of nod32 anti virus software, the computer would go through the motions of shutting down only to either hang with just the wallpaper showing or half the screen go black the other half showing the wallpaper or a "frequency out of range" box appears or the screen go blank but the computer wouldn't shut down. I unistalled nod32 and downloaded kaspersky but i still have problems shutting down although not as often. i have zone alarm 6 (free version) installed..
any ideas?

Hello and Welcome to TSF

When this happens can you hit Ctr-Alt-Del and see what processes are running. You are having something hanging when your trying to shutdown. Stopping each process may help you determine which one is hanging and causing this issue.

Roll Eyes shutdown

Well i thought i'd let people know what happened. I first closed all running processes using "ctl alt del" except explorer and systray before shutting down the computer. The computer shut down perfectly. I tried it again just to make sure it wasn't luck. it shut down perfectly. I then tried it with just 1 extra process running and it shut down perfectly. And here's the strange thing i forgot to continue this procedure and just started closing down normally and i havn't had a problem since. Whats all that about then?

My System

Just a guess... could one of the processes you stopped have been an incomplete nod32 update? Stopping it (or uninstalling Norton) could have broken the loop and prevented it loading at the next startup.
