ME locks up
Now that I have my new xp computer for the web I decided to look at my old one to find a fix so I can give it away.
The problem is it locks up every 5 to 8 minutes. I did the quick restore and it ran for 15 minutes then locked up. Then I installed a new hard drive, ran a flight simulator program for 15 minutes before it locked up. I put the old hard drive in, and removed the extra ram I installed a few years ago bringing it down to 256 ram, it ran for 20 minutes before lock up. Ran Mcafee and spybot without any problems. Any Ideas would be appreciated. I know a few people who have school kids that could use this computer, I hate to just chuck it. Compaq presario 5009r windows me |

It's called a heatsink ... It's a cold metal (cools quickly) that draws heat away from the processor (or whatever it's attached to). The fins provide more surface area so the heat dissapates quicker. |
