Cannot get Sims 2 to load on our IBM PC

My 18-year olf daughter asked for one thing for her BD. I gave it to her a day early (today). She spent about an hour trying to get it to load on our old computer. Finally gave up. The messages are System memory 191.4 and it needs 256. and Direct X Version 7.0a and it needs 9.0c? What the _? It shows on our programs that Sims 2 is installed, but she can't get it to play. The games asks for you to delete or uninstall a lot of programs on your computer before trying to install this game. That's scary. Finally a message comes up saying DLL file D3D9.DLL was not found? Don't bust a gut laughing at the old lady trying to operate a computer.

Check the minimum requirements webpage, if your computer doesn't meet these requirements then the game will not work.
