I tried the windows site you recommended. It didn't work. What if I remove power support from the control panel - how do I get it back? There is a simple solution to this problem - I just don't remember what it is. I did the same thing (deleted stand by) a couple of years ago and got it back but don't remember how. The windows solution was not it.
Thanks for helping though - any other suggestions? |

How did you delete StandBy from the Shut Down Menu?
What options do you now have when you click Start>Shutdown? Unfortunately Windows ME does not support the System File Checker utility so Im assuming you may need to do a repair install.

I had to do a little Googling on this one (I don't have Windows ME). Try going to Start, Run, type MSCONFIG, and go to the Advanced tab. There should be an option to enable Standby.
If that doesn't work, then edit the registry to enable the Standby option... Enable Standby Option ---------------------- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VPOWERD] "Flags"=dword:00000000 "SuspendFlag"=dword:00000000 Reboot for the changes to take effect. |
