[resolved] Windows cannot access...

Hi, new to the forum, hope you can help me. I am running ME on one of the computers in my office and it seems to have lost some, it won't let me run exe files as well as a lot of the icons don't have anything associated with them...when i try to do something to fix this I get the following message...

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item."

I can't really access anything including the control panel....

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello and Welcome to TSF

If Im not mistaken there is no administrative rights of any kind in Windows ME.
If you're in a networked environment, a lot of times your network administrator will only give you certain rights to your own machine.
Is the computer networked in the office? Is the machine running antivirus software? Is it connected to the interent?

turns out it was missing files, but i could not access anything to see that....after a couple of days of searching on and off i have just now used EXEfix08 to fix...the link to the file is http://home.earthlink.net/~rmbox/Ret...d/Only_IE.html

hopefully it can help anyone else that is having similar problems....
