Win98 with Thinkpad 390X - Dial-up issues

Hello All,

I'm in search of an answer for my dial-up problems. I have downloaded/installed the correct Modem driver from IBM website, talked to my ISP on how to configure my dial-up connection and reviewed countless websites on how to configure my Dial-up Adapter. The result... I'm still getting a 645 Dial-up Adapter not responding when trying to Dial into the web. I'm posting this message from my desktop from which I attempted to mimic the Dial-up Adapter/Modem/TCP-IP/Dial-up network settings on to my Laptop. I sincerely need your help. I want to prepare this Laptop for my girlfriend to use with her new full-time teaching job.

Thank you so very much!
