CD_ROM drive disappeared

My CD_ROM drive disappeared. It does not work anymore and is not in my device manager when I boot it normally. It is in the device manager when I boot it in safe mode. does anyone what is the problem and how can I fix it?

Have you made any recent hardware changes at all to your system? If not, check the BIOS (usualy press DEL during intial boot-up) and see if it shows there. If not there either, time for a new CD.

It did not have any hardware changes. It happened suddenly. I opened my computer and it did not work.

So, did you see it in the BIOS?

When you say you opened your computer.....why? Sure you didn't pull any of the cables loose?

When I said opened the computer, I meant when I booted it up. The CD_ROM is listed in the bios

Welp, sounds like time for a new CD drive.
