Hi
I realise this is probably the wrong section or forum etc, but am unsure where else to ask. Had to format computer, and when went to reinstall various programmes, found have lost the box for my spanish tutor software, so can't reinstall it, as the licence key was on the back. (WHY didn't I make a note of it elsewhere?!) I've tried to find a tech support link for the software's company, and found a site for them but no clear tech support link, so just tried an email address on the site, as well as trying to get a message through via the 'suggestion' section of the site. No idea if the email I used was them or another part of the company etc. The site I'd got to was the one I got full access to on registering at the start of the year, so I've asked if they have any way of finding my original registration details on the server, which would prove I own the software, in the hope that they can re-issue the license key. I've even offered that if there is a nominal fee or something to pay, no problem. Best spanish software I've got, and the one I spent an unusually large amount of money on, as luck would have it I've heard about that can 'undelete' stuff that's not really been deleted but is stored on hard drive somewhere. I'm presuming this isn't an illegal thing I'm asking about! Is there any way I could find the software and license key? Don't know if that's a daft question or not. Trying to think of any options. Is there any solution? Any advice welcome. Thanks, Cat |

You have formatted the drive and then reinstalled an OS and software, it is highly unlikely you can recover the particular text string your looking for.
You have already taken the best course by contacting the supplier. An alternative is to try ebay or other websites to see if you can get an inexpensive replacement. Do an online search using the software name to find potential sites.

thanks
Thanks Stu. Appreciate message. Had thought it was a bit of a long shot! Literally just found the proper tech support email, so will keep fingers crossed. Will have a look for an alternative copy in the meantime. Cat

As Stu says, it's unlikely but if you want you could try PC Inspector File Recovery, free from http://www.pcinspector.de/download.a...#file_recovery
I used it recently on a corrupt hard drive and it found and recovered files that I'd deleted 12 months ago.
