Is windows 98 bug free?

Is Windows 98 bug free? or is Windows ME the best operating system? You deside! I came across this
Windows ME is best

Its funny to me:D when people say sony is the best company or
12 dollar radio shack headphones sound good or better then 95 dollar Grado headphones. Its just so funny to me:D :D :D :D
But I agree with him just a little windows XP is microsofts best OS
I just don't think it is the best, because there is alot of operating systems to compare it too.............

In my opinion, Windows ME is a joke. I think Windows 98 pulls its weight very nicely.

Putting Microsoft Windows and bug free in the same sentence is the ultimate oxymoron! :D I'd pick W98 over ME, and I prefer W2K over either of them. It's a toss-up between W2K and XP, 2K is a bit slimmer, but XP has better legacy hardware support. None of them are even remotely bug-free!

Speaking of bugs and '98 ... I sit here in a training class on a Fluke Optiview - a $30K piece of equipment. It's more or less a java app running on top of ... M$ Windoze 98!!!

Someone in class snickered at the Windows '98. Way I figure it, they can support it a lot better with a stripped down '98 and live with the bugs they know instead of dealing with the bugs they don't know.

Bug free is a dream. It's just that some operating systems have less bugs than others. It depends a lot on what system you are running and what peripherals are attached. I currently dual boot with Win98SE and Win XP and I must say that I prefer Win98SE. That may be because I am usedto 98SE but I have tried to be objective.....Dave

I don't like a lot of the Gingerbread they added to XP, my first step in setting up an XP system is to kill active desktop and set the menus to Windows Classic Style. :) I'm still running W2K on my two main systems that get most of the work, but my wife has XP, and I have an XP system for testing XP stuff.

XP's "my computer" and Control Panel are so frilly, I'd much rather edit ini files from the command line than look at them.

You can turn all that junk off and make them look very similar to W98/2K, which is what I do immediately after installation! :)

I would use Windows 3.0 before I used M.E. again, that OS was a nightmare everyone I know that ran it had problems, it was a total waste of space. Now Win98 was a pretty stable platform as Windows OS's go it wasn't anywhere near as reliable as NT or Win2k later on but it pulled its weight and offered the home user a fairly stable gaming platform.

XP now, I would say that XP is the best home system OS released to date, it blends Win2k stability and adds the ability to play games, something Win2k sorely lacked in. As for the frilly features in XP, I go through periods of turning them off .. turning them on just for something to do. :)
