ME loses mouse....

Guys, I've got a machine running ME that has lost its mouse. No pointer, no nothing. PS/2 mouse is present at boot. It is recognizing USB devices being plugged in but it still does not give any mouse control. However, if you boot into Safe Mode it will recognize and use the PS/2 mouse.
Any ideas?

What kind of mouse are you trying to use PS/2 or USB?

Have you gone to the device manager and checked to see if the mouse is being recognized.

Tried both kinds with no results except the PS/2 one and only in Safe Mode.
All are being picked up in Device Manager.

If you go into device manager in safe mode how many devices are listed under mouse? If there are more than one uninstall all of them and reboot using the keyboard.

ah Mistake Edition, the OS I love to hate. :tongue2:

Lets see, have you installed anything before the error or made any changes to the registry?

If you did either, you may want to boot the system using the ME bootdisk and use the registry restore option to restore to an earlier working point (The only good feature of Me is the introduction of this option IMHO)

If that doesn't work, try completely removing the mouse from the device manager in safe mode, then rebooting normally and plugging it in the USB one and see if it starts working or not..

I had a solution for you but because of "johnwill", I am taking off my advice since he doesn't appreciate what I do here for you people! You should thank his rudeness for this.
