Confused Msgsrv32

Im lost. About 2 weeks ago while playing UT online my computer started to freeze up and "think". My mouse light would go out. Then a screen would come up wanting to install drivers for a USB human interface device. Hitting ctrl alt del brought up that Msgsrv32 not responding. Restart the comp and in 5 , 10 minutes the same thing, anytime I used my mouse it would freeze. Put an adaptor on the mouse and it is usable but the system was running terribly and still froze up alot. Read up on the message online and was under the impression it was a registry problem. Ran a registry checker and it found errors but couldn't fix them. My hard drive is partitioned so I transfered any personal stuff I wanted to D: and reformatted C:, reinstalled windows, updated all drivers, got all the windows 98 updates, but still the same thing if I try and use my mouse on a USB port, getting the same Msgrv32 message and the registry checker is showing errors again. Its not a virus that I can see anyways, could it be hardware, or do I have to repartition as well as reformatting? Its driving me crazy!

Hello There,

This one can be rather difficult to run down, but with a little work, you should be able to do it. I could tell you what order to work in, but frankly, this like will do a better job than I can of helping you. Take a read and see if this helps:

Welll I read the artical and tried everything is said, still no luck. What ever it is my mouse freezes up the system if used in USB ports, will work if I put an adaptor on but things are still laggy, kind of delayed. I've already formatted the hard drive and installed windows, updates, updated drivers, etc. so Im truly lost. Any other ideas?

Have you tried a different USB mouse? Borrow one and see if it makes a difference. I had a problem similar... but not identical, that was the problem: a bung mouse.

Tried replacing the mouse, not that. I removed the USB ports in the front, then deleted all the USB ports in safemode, rebooted and let the computer find the ones I left in the back. It still finds the same amount of USB ports and loads them (why after I removed them?), but the system seemed to preform faster after this. I still wasn't using my mouse on a USB port, so I thought I would try puting it back on one of them that was left. System still worked fine after this, mouse worked, not laggy, thought I had the problem licked until I tried playing Unreal Tournament online. Played fine for about ahalf hour them boom, system froze, light went out on my mouse. Ctrl alt del brings up blue screen saying system is busy.... ctrl alt del a second, third, forth, etc. time doesnt restart my comp. I have to hit the reset button (hate doing that) and put my mouse adaptor back on, then it works again. Would this be a hardware issue? Something breaking down? What lol?
