VOLUME CONTROL/ LINE IN unaccessible. HELP!
After I reformatted and reinstalled Windows 98/SE, I couldn't access my sound control box and I couldn't input music through my line in input for use with recording programs such as Cakewalk and Cool Edit Pro. I've tried all of the obvious things to deal with the situation but nothing seems to work. I'm trying to record some stuff so this is kind of important to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time! peace!

First off, thanks a lot for your help.
I see ESS Allegro under the Multimedia icon and I'm pretty sure that was the soundcard I used during recording before I had reformatted. I checked off the box that said 'show volume control' and it said that it was never installed and to install it via Add/Remove Programs. I tried that but it wasn't available or I just couldn't see it. Do you have any other ideas? Thanks again! |

Go to add/remove programs. You will see a tab for add/remove Windows components. Choose this. Look for Volume control. Put a check in it. It will install from the Windows cd. While you are in there, see if you see anything else you may need.
