security settings prohibit activex

Every time I reboot I get the pop up "your current security settings prohibit running activex controls on this page, as a result the page may not display correctly"
This comes up even though ie is not open.
My security settings are all on low.
I installed norton internet security but every time i try to open it to activate the pop up comes up and norton wont work.
Does anyone know why it is doing this?

Hello and Welcome to TSF, I'm Geekgirl

The reason you are getting this error at startup is because Norton Internet Security is set to to run at start-up.
You may need to add Norton Internet Security to the trusted sites zone

Hi Geekgirl

Thanks for your reply. This was happening before I installed norton internet security. So, I figured I had a virus and tried to install norton. It installed ok but when it reboots after installing, the pop up come up, so I cant activate and run norton. I uninstalled norton and the pop up still comes up.

Would this mean that a program on start up is trying to run an activex? I don't why it pops up if all my settings are on low and enable.

Rule no.1 - never try to install an anti-virus if you think/have a virus. The program will not run correctly. Scanning with an on-line scanner would have been a better choice.

Free on-line scanners:
Panda ActiveScan
RAV AntiVirus
Housecall Be sure to put a check the box beside AutoClean.

Click Start>Run and type in msconfig
Click the Startup tab and check to see what is running at startup
