Can anyone tell me how to find out when is the last time the computer is switched on?
At the moment the computer is running on ME, as far as i know there is no hardware error, yet the computer won't boot up. The story is this... a computer company screw up the ME computer in the community centre i work voluntary in. And they are trying to get themselves out of it, claiming they didn't do it. I want to know when is the last time the computer has been switch on? I mean day, if possible time as well. So i can argue with them about this issue. It is not the first time they screw something up majorly. Thank you very much in advance and any help would be greatly appriciated!!! |

What was the original problem with the computer, hardware or software? First of all I'd ask the company for a written report of exactly what they did to fix it.
There are 2 hidden system files, C:\BOOTLOG.TXT and C:\BOOTLOG.PRV which will give you the time and date of the last 2 times Windows was loaded. If you've got a boot floppy (www.bootdisk.com), insert that and switch on. When you get to the command prompt type dir c:\bootlog.* /a:h The BOOTLOG.TXT entry will show you the last boot time and date, but of course this is rewritten each time you reboot. BOOTLOG.PRV shows the previous time and date. Give 'em hell!
