Desktop Background Problems

Lately I have been having problems changing my background on my desktop. I get the message "system has been stopped due to a serious malfunction spyware activity has been dectected" which I from what I have read is due to spyware "Spysheriff", but when I try to access the background tab, all of the items in the list are frozen and I cannot scroll up or down, but everything else around it is fine. Any ideas? Thanks

My System

It looks like you've been infected with SpySheriff which takes over your desktop and icons, but there could be other viruses/spyware. This link shows how to remove it www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/1119481646
but don't do anything yet, this is for reference only.

I would advise you to open a new thread in the Security section, explaining your problem in as much detail as possible.
www.techsupportforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27
They will ask you to post a Hijack log and then guide you through the cleanup process.

EDIT: Sorry Skate Punk, didn't see your reply. We must have been typing at the same time
