DeadAim makes AIM dead...ironic yet not funny in the least
Hey everyone...
I installed DeadAIM yesterday because I heard some friends saying it was the best thing to ever happen in the history of the universe. After the installation was complete, I restarted the computer and ran AIM. It gets to the signon screen and I can enter a password. From here, it connects and asks if I want to update it. Clicking no, I get this: AIM caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:00000001. Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=018f EIP=00000001 EFLGS=00010202 EBX=00001129 SS=0197 ESP=0063f09c EBP=0063f10c ECX=80005fb0 DS=0197 ESI=02d61a20 FS=0fff EDX=80006e48 ES=0197 EDI=112942ac GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 01 00 00 00 04 70 00 16 00 97 07 65 04 70 00 65 Stack dump: 02d43ea0 02d66a90 00000000 0063f15e 0063f10c 0063f126 00000001 02d427ed 00000000 0063f12e 000009e0 00630000 0063f18a bff72317 00000000 00000000 I know perfectly well what this is, but I have no idea how to remedy it. Clicking ok to update, it does the same exact thing. This is really making me want to go and smash my head against something, as I suspect this isn't going to be one of those quick fixes. Thanks a lot for any suggestions you may have on this problem. Edit: I just uninstalled DeadAIM and things went back to normal (kind of), but I'd still appreciate any advice on how to get DeadAIM to work since it looks so cool. It's quite possible that DeadAim doesn't like your system for some reason or another, and although I have no idea what the error message refers to, there may be a conflict in your devices.Right click on My Computer/Properties and click on device manager and look for yellow exclamation marks. If you have any that you can't account for, start in safe mode and delete all the entries in device manager, restart your computer normally an it will reload all the plug and play devices and hopefully resolve any conflicts. Load DeadAim first, it may be the cause.Good Luck..........Dave PS you could always get a different game!

AIM?
This in no way solves your problem, but have you considered using Trillian? You can grab version 0.74 for free off of www.download.com, and it allows you to chat with people who are using MSN, ICQ, AIM, mIRC, and Yahoo Chat. If you're running more than one of these programs anyway, it's worthwhile.
Sorry that I don't know anything about AIM though. |
