Upgraded from 98 to 98SE = wheres volume/record control?

I just upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows 98 SE and now I'm missing the volume control icon from the startup menu. Also, when I run guitar-track programs like 'Cakewalk' and I click on 'record control' to program 'line-in' as my recording source, nothing happens.

Neither volume control nor record control is under the 'Entertainment' tab on the 'Programs' tab either. I'm not sure if this has something to do with my sound card or what but it's really annoying me and is hindering my progress in recording a soundtrack for my film. If anyone can help at all, that would be great. Thanks a lot and I appreciate any info.

My System

Bit rusty with 98se but I will give it a go .
Go to start/settings/control panel/sounds and audio devices.
All adjustments and setting can be controlled from there.

Also, you should have a little speaker icon in your systray - double click on that and it will bring up your sound controls. If the icon is not there, it will need to be turned on from the controls kodi said about, something like "Show volume controls in the systray".
