greyknight17 has been helping me but suggested I come back to windows. I am missing some files for Windows 98. I couldn't get Norton installed but now have something else. I had someone work on my computer and now can't open java files nor can I print from a web page.

I went to run sfc to extract shell32.dll but the sfcdll file was missing.

By the way, I have no idea what I am talking about, just repeating what I see on the screen so techno language will lose me.

sorry what do you mean by System or System 32. Where should I save that download?

When you click on the link, save it to My Documents. Open the file, it may be compressed. When you get the file open right click it and select copy. Go to C:\Windows\System and paste it in there and then do the same in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

Thank you. I think I put in that file as well as shell something. I have no clue what they do. I still can't run java stuff although I tried to reinstall that.

Also, I can't print from web pages.

Can you now use the SFC and extract shell32.dll like you were trying to?

I don't get this stuff. I didn't know I was trying to use them and wouldn't have a clue how they are used. Greyknight had me register my internet explorer files and the shell32 was missing. sfc certainly worked to enable me to extract shell32 from the installation disc. How that works in the operating of the computer is very beyond me. I just know my little java thing by the clock never goes on anymore.

Have you gone back to the person who worked on your machine and ask them what they did?

Without knowing what they did or even what geryknight17 had you do I really dont know where to start.

SFC should have replaced any missing or corrupted files
