This problem seems to originate with the mouse (Logitech Wheel Mouse). Tried uninstalling the mouse drivers and then reinstalling. This did improve smooth operation to using the computer but not for long. The whole screen will freeze for as short a period as 5 seconds up to a few minutes. If left alone, things come back to normal operation by itself. If pushed, it locks up completely. I get the sense it has something to do with memory allocation or headroom. There is 256 MB of RAM on the system and two HDDs. It's a Elite Group KS75A MOBO with a GeForce MX 400 Graphics card. Also, I have a Voice, FAX, Data Modem and I'm using onboard sound. The chip is an AMD 900Mhz Duron and I don't know who made the RAM.
This has been a real annoyance. Anyone with some helpful ideas? Thanks! |
