WinME: error 06:089F:00005640 on booting up
This is a problem I've been getting with WinME.
I've been finding that the boot-up process aborts half-way through posting the icons on the desktop. "An error has occurred", is what it says. It identifies the error as 06 : 089F : 00005640 (with roughly two spaces either side of the two colons). Ctrl+Alt+Del leads to the same result. But then Ctrl+Alt+Del second time round has always (so far) done the trick, and the boot-up goes through to completion. What I'm worried about, obviously, is: how soon before I'm not lucky third time? What kind of an error is this? Can I rely on some kind of warm-up process to overcome it every time? |
