Question ATAPI CD failure

When opening microsoft, I've noticed by ATAP CD the word failure. I'm computer stupid, so don't know if this is a problem, and if so, how to correct it. My stepson was teaching me how to burn CD's and I don't know if this started the problem, or if it is a separate issue. Thanks for your help.

Exactly what are you opening?

Do you have a CD-RW and a CD-ROM installed in the computer?
What software do you use to burn cd's with?

Roll Eyes Atapi Boot Failure

Hi. When I turn on the computer and all of the information comes up, I noticed that Boot ATAPI shows FAILURE.
Yes, I have a CD burner, and use NERO. I just started burning photos from Disc drive to CD's, and installed NERO to do so. Barbara

If this is being seen in the bios report, and I'm pretty sure that what you're meaning, it only refers to the system looking for boot media in the CD rom drive. And the "failure" is that there is no media in the drive from which to boot. This also indicates that the system is seeking the CD media at boot, which is good overall. Seeking the CD at boot does slow the bootup process slightly, but I wouldn't change it. And of course after no media is found in the CD rom drive, the system boots from the hard drive as it should.
