OS: WIN 98
|
I've run out of ideas. Attempting to load WIN98 after formating the HD and doing FDISK. I'm using the WIN98 startup disk to get started. At the boot up the HD is recognized as the primary master and the CDROM drive as the secondary master. However, once the MS-RAMDRIVE is loaded, the CR ROM drive is not recognized. If I switch the CD ROM and HD connectors, the CDROM is recognized and the startup window appears, however, now unable to access the HD...so still can't load WIN 98. I've also attempted using the CDROM for startup, but again the drive is not recognized. The needed driver for the CDROM is present and loaded. How do I get recognition for the CDROM as the D drive so as to load WIN98? Help is very much appreciate....been playing with this thing for a month now...thanks...Jim

i almost wonder what jumper settings you are using.
are those drives on the same cable? if they are, they need to have the jumpers set appropriately. the hard disk as master, and the cd-rom as slave, or, both set to CS (cable select) if they are both set to master, or both set to slave, you will run into this problem 99% of the time. (the other 1% of the time, neither drive will work at all.)
